Mark Johnson Portfolio

Mark has spent the past 30 years as a creative professional. He had an 11-year gig as a touring musician and songwriter, owned a graphic design firm, was assistant editor of Tennessee’s most tenured agricultural and rural living publication — the Tennessee Cooperator — and served as communications director of the Tennessee Wildlife Federation where he was editor of Tennessee Out-Of-Doors magazine. He’s a longtime freelance writer and has published humor and health and fitness blogs that have been read worldwide. He has won more than 100 national awards in writing, photography, advertising, and editing, and has released two CDs of original music. Mark and his wife, Holly, also own Hobnail Trekking Co., a company that provides treks to Everest Base Camp and other epic destinations in Nepal.

“In whatever project I’m working on, my goal is to produce the very highest quality item I can within the limitations of my budget. As an art director, I try to balance the objective of the project against the talent of the designer. As a writer, I want to surprise my editor, over-deliver, and make the subject entertaining, even if it inherently isn’t. As a photographer, I’m not the world’s greatest technician, so I rely on unusual composition and the best natural lighting I can get. As a video producer, I provide the production staff with the materials they need and direct the content and tone from a 30K-foot perspective.”
